Who else wakes up with a sweet tooth in the morning? I DO! I love to indulge in the sweet treats of breakfast such as waffles, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, you know all the bad sugary carb loaded breakfast ideas that we should all just stay away from. So I came up with a smoothie that satisfies my sugary cravings without feeling guilty.

I give to you the Maca Strawberry Banana Smoothie

1 scoop Organic vanilla protein

1 Tablespoon Organic Maca powder

1/2 cup Frozen strawberries

1/2 Banana

7 grams coconut oil

3-5 Ice cubes

Dash of Cinnamon

Sprinkle of chia seeds

  • Place protein, maca powder, strawberries, coconut oil, cinnamon, 1/2 cup of water and a few ice cubes into a blender. I personally used my NutriBullet.
  • Blend all ingredients until smooth.

  • Transfer smoothie to a drinking glass.
  • Sprinkle chia seeds on top.
  • Place bananas on top.
  • ENJOY!

Why Maca powder you ask? Maca is a cruciferous vegetable, like broccoli. The taste is a combination of butterscotch nutty, and almond butter. There are many benefits that this super food has such as;

  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Increases energy and stamina
  • May improve memory
  • Elevates menopause symptoms in women
  • May increase libido
  • May shrink prostate

Quick disclaimer, please consult your doctor before ingesting, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding ,due to the effects Maca powder has on the hormones.

OK friends who here has a sweet tooth every once in awhile? I have to admit when my sweet tooth takes a hold of me, I find myself over indulging in the sugary filled snacks that leave me feeling guilty immediately afterwards. I wanted to try and figure out a recipe that would satisfy my cravings, but also not have me feeling like I need to go run a marathon to burn off the calories I just ate. So I found and tweaked this recipe just a bit to fit my likings.
